Had the extended fam over for New Year's Day and it was lovely. Hurrah for having most people back from the Philippines (and those who weren't are back now)! Remind me to not get married there, especially over the holiday season.

Saturday was my sister's school's fair, where my parents ran the Filipino stall of the ethnic food* section for the last time, seeing as sis is graduating this year. Classical theater workshop mostly rocks right now. I say mostly rocks because a friend and I did a lot of awesome work on our bit last week but it suddenly feels so different with the rest of the cast actually there and blocking not just text and it feels like we took two steps forward and one step back. Stuff that made me smile today:- I figured out how to print stuff at uni without any help! Yes, after a semester and a half (the setup's changed since I was in first year) I finally worked it out. Sometimes having been away a year makes me feel like such a first year.

Totally failed at giving a shit about most of my lectures today: Film lecturer went over the joys of writing based on actors' improvisation and method acting (thanks but we're never going to get to do that for our assignments so what the hell), English I'm sure would have been helpful if I'd actually read the short stories but I hadn't and don't ( Read more... ) -

Since coming back to Wellington I have:- Performed in the first of our three productions for classical theater workshop, Act 4 of The Tempest. It went well, I think! I really liked seeing the other groups' takes on the same play and the same characters. And now onwards to the analytical report on it and Tartuffe...

I think Nikita is a pretty cool guy. esh fights the governemt and doesn't afraid of anything
So despite the whole feeling slightly behind thing, I'm starting to feel settled in at uni. (Even though tuts only started this week.) Particularly in my major departments: I'm a lot more comfortable going and hanging out and, amazingly, actually getting work done in the green room now than I was last semester; I'm also a lot more comfortable there ( Read more... )
